Goals
Developing Industry Knowledge Through Online Modules:
In order to strengthen my understanding of the business consulting industry, I will complete one short online course through Coursera in the next 6 months. I will either complete the “Business Analysis and Process Management” or “How to Get a Consulting Job”courses, both by Coursera. These are short courses that will be manageable alongside my full-time work and university degree. Throughout the course, I will take detailed notes on key concepts relating to consulting. Upon completion, I will write a small reflection on what I have learnt and how I can apply it to my future career and university subjects. Also, upon completion, I will gain a certificate of completion. Completing this goal will also help make me more employable in my industry when I start applying for entry-level jobs in the business consulting industry.
Industry Engagement Through LinkedIn:
To build engagement within the business consulting industry. I will connect with 15 industry professionals via LinkedIn within the next 12 months. I will identify individuals/businesses whose career paths align with my aspirations and send personalised connection requests and ask for advice when it comes to progressing in this industry. I will also ask them how employable they would see me and what feedback they could give me on my resume. I will also build visibility by commenting on relevant posts. Completion of this goal will be reflected in the connections made and the understanding I have gained through talking with these professionals.
Skill Development for Consulting Practice:
To strengthen my consulting skills, I will analyse three case studies within the next 9 months. These will be either real or simulated business problems. These are outside my university assignments and self-initiated. I will be focusing on operational efficiency, financial performance, and vision and strategic planning. I will apply my knowledge of analysis tools like SWOT and STEEPLE and interpret the data I collect to form evidence-based recommendations. Once finished, I will draw on my connections within university for feedback to help me refine my approach and strategies. I will also use library resources to give me ideas for key concepts and strategies that I will be using for future case studies. Practicing in this way will help me gain the skills needed to become a business consultant and employable for future job opportunities.
Aspirational Career Statement:
With the help of my business degree and future industry work experience, I aspire to be a business consultant, supporting organisations towards sustainable growth and overcoming debilitating challenges they are facing. I am motivated to analyse specific industries and making sure businesses reach their full potential and rise to the top of their industry. In my day-to-day work, I envision myself developing data-driven strategies and analytical reports that provide long-term success. I would also love to engage directly inside businesses gaining hands-on experience to help me fully understand their values and operations to tailor effective and practical advice and strategies.
I intend my impact to be meaningful through thoughtful innovation and strong leadership. Done by providing forward-thinking strategies that not only resolve immediate threats but also create long-term value. My impact will be driven by combining analytical insight with strategic vision. I hope to contribute to creating a stronger, more resilient business landscape within my community. I want to be known for my reliability, sound and supported decision-making and ability to lead with empathy, clarity and purpose. Professional success for me is reflected in the results I produce in improving businesses and the lasting positive change I help to create.

Accuracy & Attention to Detail
Currently in my job, accuracy and attention to detail is a must, as small errors impact the overall outcome. So, I have had to quickly deepen this skill that I already possess. Having this skill gives me the understanding of producing organised, precise, and well-structured work. By demonstrating this skill, I can then have effective decision-making and professional communication.
Building Connections
I recognise the importance of building deeper connections whether it is with my peers or within my job. Right now, it is important for me to build connections in the business industry to enable long-term professional growth.
Time Management and Organisation
Time management and organisation is a skill that I have demonstrated for a number of years. This skill is essential for balancing multiple tasks and subjects and gaining professional reliability in the business consulting industry.
